The fall-winter 2021-2022 collection from the Gabriela Hearst fashion house, presented by the brand as part of New York Fashion Week.

For starters, it is worth noting that Gabriela Hirst met this year in a new capacity. With her own brand, she is also the creative director of Chloe. By the way, a review of her debut collection is already on my channel.

The status of a designer of a large French House imposes its own limitations - so after that it is extremely important to remain yourself. Judging by today's presentation, Hirst coped with this point quite successfully.

The designer's corporate identity is still readable in every look, and all the iconic elements can be seen in the new fashion line. First, the one close to Gabriela's heart is feminism. According to the couturier, this season the main source of inspiration for her was the amazing life of the nun, healer and one of the most educated women of her time, Hildegarda Bingenskaya, whom Hirst considers an underestimated genius.

Monochrome knitted dresses are complemented with lace inserts, and a black coat - with knitted macramé on the hem. Minimalistic trouser suits from the man's shoulder are combined with a strict shirt to match, and woolen sets, consisting of a tight shirt and a midi skirt, are combined with tight-fitting golf in a contrasting shade.

In his new collection, the designer has managed to combine opposing styles, reconciling femininity and masculinity. Trench coats with unusual bulky sleeves, jackets, colorful ponchos, leather coats and tailored trousers replace outfits on the catwalk decorated with knitted appliqués, floral prints, in the creation of which Gabriela's daughter, 12-year-old Mia, took part.

The second important element that is always present in the Hirst collections is the theme of environmental friendliness, sustainable development and smart consumption. Yes, fashion is not the greenest business.

But the designer strives to make it better. Her past collection was created with 40% recycled materials or leftover fabrics. In the new season, she is taking the same approach, increasing the percentage to fifty.

And the third point is the roots of Hirst. Surprisingly, the modern and charming Gabriela grew up on a ranch in Uruguay, and today she lives in New York, where she is rightfully considered one of the most successful designers.

But she does not forget about her native country for a moment. As a result, Ruans appeared in the collection - traditional Uruguayan capes resembling ponchos. They were knitted by hand by women from a small team that unites craftswomen who own ancient artisan techniques.
